Members this was consultative meeting of Odokomit community with our lawyer, concerning the law suite against MMP Agro Industry Ltd as a result of their poor waste management practices that has caused the community health threats, threat of extinction of aquatic life from near by swamp where their waste is disposed, I am previllage to lead the team as chairperson Odokomit community, in attendance were, professor oloya, victor Obyelo Mature, Eng Walter Omara our technical adviser.
Members above is the legal battle between Odokomit community and MMP Agro Industry ltd, as youth Champion from lira I am previllage for my community to entrust me as a chairperson of Odokomit community comprising of four villages within lira city west division, the genesis of the litigation started as aresult of poor waste management practices of the industry that threatens the life of the surrounding community, improper health and occupational practices where our youth are exposed to industrial hazards because of lack of P. P. E, harrashment of workers,, they also do not give workers contract, neither enroll them to pay NSSF which abrogates the employment act, we can not sit quiet and see our youth abused"modern slavery "and pretend their life do not matters, not to help them get justice is to eliminate them from human memory, and in betraying their humanity we betray our own, we should strive in all our areas to advocate for environmental protection, safe community, in attendance in my team we're:professor
Oloya, Victor Obyelo Mature(retired asst commissioner Min of Education), Eng Walter Omara (prinple Eng Min of Energy) our technical adviser, our lawyer and Directors MMP Agro Industry Ltd Mr patel, Mr Dipact,their lawyer counsol Silvester and advocate ojok Omara legal adviser MMP Agro, we agreed to hold the second meeting in two weeks time that shall involve NEMA, city authority and community team and inspection of the factory shall be done, to identify loop holes for rectification and signing MOU with the community .
